Fossil trilobite & rough ammolite silver pendant (19")
A two piece fossil pendant, featuring a Cambrian Era (500-700 Million years ago) Elrathia kingii trilobite from Utah, and a flashy, iridescent lime green shard of Placenticeras spp. ammolite.
The fossils are set in hand fabricated sterling silver, and recently re worked to hang on a chunky, textured, darkly oxidized sterling silver chain.
19" long, fully adjustable. The pendant itself is 3.5 cm long.
More About the fossils: Ammolite is fossilized ammonite nacre, or mother of pearl. Ammonites were ancient cephalopods that prowled the ancient seas worldwide, and survived several extinction events over the ages. Ammolite is an astonishingly beautiful fossil, owing it’s spectacular color and flash to inherited microstructures. It is found only on the eastern slopes of Alberta’s rocky mountains, in the Bears Paws formation (late Cretaceous period).
