These popular earrings are sold out and are available (possibly for the last time, definitely for the last time in collaboration with Ildanach Studios) on a made to order basis until September 1. Please allow 3-5 weeks after Sept 1 for delivery.
Sidewinder rattles are perfectly tiny; perfect for jewelry. These mild mannered little rattlesnakes are named for their unusual mode of locomotion, which allows them to travel over shifting sand dunes with ease. Their distinctive soft horns over their eyes make them a unique looking reptile and a very special fixture in the American desert.
These come on hyperallergenic niobium coated copper earwires, with darkened copper wire on the stones. Keep these clean and dry to keep them free from copper oxidation.
Options in 3 metals, bronze, copper, and sterling silver, with three possible uniquely North American stones to go with them; old stock, high grade Lone Mountain turquoise nuggets from Nevada, and natural double-terminated Herkimer Diamonds from upstate New York. The later are in fact a type of high grade quartz.
Each one bears a tiny maker's mark, and the sterling silver rattles have a 925 sterling silver assay on the top of the rattle.
No sidewinders were harmed in the procurement of the original rattle; the rattle on which the silver master copy was first molded came off a long term captive animal which had died of old age.
