Andalusite & silver snake ring
Sterling silver snake, fashioned into a size 8.25-8.5 ring, with a marquise cut andalusite displaying good clarity and pleochroism. Fourth photo is an in-progress shot.
Andalusite is considered a curiosity and a collector's gem, and as it's name implies, was first discovered and described in Spain. I have taken a particular liking to it and buy it on the rare occasions that I find it.
This ring is as sturdy as such a delicate design could possibly allow. However, this is not a ring to wear while you do chores, go to the barn, do the dishes, etc, and would probably benefit from being stacked with some other rings that can protect it. Or, just be careful not to smash it.
Polish with a soft polishing cloth.
As with all natural gemstone jewelry, NEVER use an ultrasonic cleaner, and have prongs tightened periodically if it is worn regularly so you do not lose your stone.
