Azurite-malachite pendant
A hand fabricated sterling silver pendant, handmade from scratch from sheet silver, featuring a beautiful, all natural malachite-azurite, cut by a wonderfully talented lapidary artist in the US. Measuring 5.5 cm long by 2 cm wide. Hopefully this piece speaks for itself! It was fun to make outdoors on a covered porch, which is where my workbench is, during one of our august monsoon thunderstorms here in the mojave desert. I think the intense, but live giving coolness and water energy of that storm entered into the piece, with the colors, billowing patterns on the stone, and droplet shapes in the silver being reminiscent of thunderclouds and raindrops. Some pieces the maker will just never forget, and this is one.
Care should be taken to protect this piece from moisture or other corrosive substances, such as salt or chlorine, as the sterling silver, as well as the stone itself, containing copper, could potentially be damaged by exposure to such things. This is not one to wear while hiking, swimming, or jogging, for instance. Comes on an 18" base metal chain.
The patina will likely change over time in unexpected ways, depending on what it comes in contact with, and how it is cared for. While I cannot predict or guarantee the patina, I would certainly be glad to polish and re-patinate this piece into the future. Just send it back to me and cover shipping!
